Concert I
The Story Of The Baroque Concerto Grosso
Saturday, October 24, 2009, 8 PM
The season opener explores the Baroque concerto grosso from its origins through the height of the genre. Perhaps the most beloved genre of all late Baroque instrumental music, the concerto grosso pairs intricate ensemble work with distinctive and complementary music performed by featured soloists. From its origins in Corelli and Muffat to the grand late works of Vivaldi and Handel, hear history in sound.

IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION FOR OCTOBER 24
Unfortunately, the venue’s parking structure will not be completed until after the October. There are plenty of parking options in the area. These include:
- Metered parking along Georgia Ave., along King Street on the west side Georgia Ave. across from the venue, and on other surrounding streets.
- There is a public metered surface parking lot on King Street, on the west side of Georgia Ave. (on the right if traveling south down Georgia, on the left if traveling north up Georgia), a .5 block walk.
- The Montgomery College East Campus garage at the corner of Fenton and King Streets (behind the venue), a 1.5 block walk.
- The paid private garage behind Mayorga Coffee and Crisfield Seafood (entrances off East-West Highway and behind Mayorga Coffee at Blair Mill Road), a 1.5 block walk.
Here is a link to the campus map.
The West Campus parking garage directly behind the PAC will serve as the parking for the venue. It is scheduled to open in November, and should be available for concerts II, III and IV.
PARKING FOR PATRONS WITH DISABILITIES
For the October 24 performance, parking for patrons with disabilities and special parking tags is located on campus in the lot between the Cafritz and Health Sciences buildings (right next to the PAC). Enter the campus on King Street, right next to the PAC. Due to the limited parking in this lot, we ask that only patrons with special parking tags or mobility impairments park here. Parking patrons with special parking tags for concerts II, III, and IV will be in the marked spots directly behind the venue. |
